Summer Student Internship Opportunity with the Polar Continental Shelf Program

The position is at the PCSP Arctic Logistics Support Centre in Resolute, Nunavut

The student will provide administrative and logistical support to the base managers and other base staff and users.

This position will be for six weeks (dates yet to be confirmed)

 

The Aurora Research Institute can nominate one Aurora College student for this amazing opportunity. The successful candidate must:

  • Be a returning student in an Aurora College program
  • Have first aid training (or be able to attain this training before the summer)
  • Be screened at a the required security level (this is to be completed by PCSP)
  • Be able to provide proof of Canadian citizenship
  • Be a good ambassador for the Aurora Research Institute and Aurora College
  • Have an interest in the Arctic and in Northern research
  • Have knowledge and/or related experience
  • Be able to adjust to living and working in a small Arctic community
  • Be keen for an amazing northern experience and willing to work effectively with the PCSP team

This position pays $24.53/hr (or $25.02/hr after June 21st).
The work week is 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday with requests often to work overtime on weekends as and when needed.
All expenses including travel, meals and accommodation will be covered by PCSP.

Selection Process:

  • The submitted applications will be screened by a committee of ARI and Aurora College staff.
  • The applications will be short listed based on the criteria above, quality of application package, and the strength of the candidate.
  • The committee will interview the top 4 to 6 candidates.
  • The top 2 candidates may be nominated by ARI to PCSP although there is only one position available.
