Digital Collections

A couple of web sites were developed as part of funding that was obtained under Industry Canada's Digital Collections program between 1996 to 2004. The funding was used to train and employ local youth in the digitization of content towards the creation of a web site. Descriptions of these projects can be seen below which a link to the projects at the Digital Collections web site at http://collections.ic.gc.ca.

  • CANOE - Computer Archiving of Northern Oration and Exhibitions
This project began in November 1998 and ended in February 1999. Seven local youth were hired and the project consisted of digitizing a book about Fort Smith called "On the Banks of the Slave" as well as working with the local museum in a virtual tour project.
