The South Slave Research Centre (SSRC) is located at the Thebacha Campus of Aurora College in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. The SSRC serves communities south of Great Slave Lake, including Kikisa, Enterprise, Hay River, Fort Resolution, Fort Smith and Lutsel K’e.
The SSRC has been operating since 1991. We carry out contractual research and conduct research as requested by the community. We can also provide support to visiting researchers through office space, wireless internet access, laboratory facilities, access to Thebacha Campus Library, and storage. The centre also supports researchers to connect with community organizations and government departments and assisting with the hiring of local research assistants. The SSRC is also the Geomatics Centre for the Aurora Research Institute.
