The Aurora Research Institute (ARI) is looking for an external member to join its Research Advisory Council (RAC), a committee under the Aurora College Board of Governors. The RAC advises on research priorities, development, and strategy aligned with ARI's strategic plan. They are specifically seeking a Social Sciences Representative with expertise in NWT-based research and a history of securing competitive funding. On August 15, 2023 the GNWT declared a territory-wide state of emergency due to the ongoing wildfire crisis throughout the NWT. This state of emergency extends until October 2, 2023.

The Aurora Research Institute (ARI) STEM Outreach team of Aurora College has been honored with the 2023 Premier's Award in the Teams category for their outstanding work in providing experiential STEM education to youth and educators across the Northwest Territories. Over the past year, they have organized more than 500 hands-on STEM events, engaging nearly 10,000 NWT youth in over 25 communities. The team has also mentored hundreds of teachers, equipping them with the necessary skills and tools for inquiry-driven STEM programming. By incorporating Indigenous Traditional Knowledge and partnering with regional organizations, they have successfully addressed the unique needs of Northern students and educators.
